LA Galaxy vs New York City Predictions
- L.A. Galaxy have scored at least two goals in their last three home MLS matches.
- The hosts have strengthened their attack and will pose a huge threat going forward.
- Despite being Champions, NYCFC won just four of their regular season away matches last season.
Excitement brewing on the West Coast
The MLS’ most successful club begins the season by welcoming the reigning champions and they’ll hope that this is the year they can claim their first piece of silverware since 2014. They’ve made some solid additions, including former Juventus and Bayern Munich winger Douglas Costa. It’s an exciting arrival and it can only mean more service and chances for poacher Javier Hernandez.
The Champions begin their defence by travelling 2,800 miles to the West Coast and will want to get their season off to a flyer by claiming victory here. They’ve fought off a lot of interest from European outfits over the break for top goalscorer Valentin Castellanos and given they’ve bolstered defensively, they can be successful again if the forward remains with the club. However, James Sands and Jesus Medina are just a couple of some notable departures and it remains to be seen how they cope with the shakeup.
Hosts to get off to the perfect start
This is an excellent game to kick off the season with all of the quality on show, but we’re siding with the hosts to clinch the victory here. There’s a buzz about the Galaxy and everyone is keen to see how Douglas Costa fairs, he could make life difficult for New York City’s left-hand side and we think the value is on the hosts to win the match.
