Lazio vs Genoa Predictions

Lazio went into the international break on the back of claiming a draw away to Napoli. While claiming a point at last season’s runners up is impressive, it didn’t do a lot for Lazio’s hopes of making next season’s Champions League. They actually lost ground on the sides above them, but they did hold off sixth placed Napoli.

The side from the capital need to be looking above them from now on, and to do that they need a victory. Will they be able to claim three points at home to Genoa this weekend? The visitors have lost the majority of their away games and they’re currently stuck in mid-table. They can’t seem to get a run going this term, so a home win here looks fairly likely.

The bookies are making Lazio heavy favourites to take the points this weekend, which shows how much they’ve improved this season. They boast one of the best home records in the Italian top flight this tern having picked up 13 points from their six games here so far. The Biancocelesti have scored in all but one of their matches at Stadio Olimpico.

The hosts have found the net 12 times here this season, which works out at two goals per game. They should be able to add to that tally when Genoa arrive here, given that they let in 1.6 goals per match on the road. Lazio are a solid side at their own ground, they’ve conceded just 0.67 goals in their home outings so far. Genoa, meanwhile, have conceded 73% of their total goals this term in away games.

I Rossoblu are a little goal shy away from their own ground, they’ve scored 62% of their goals this season at home. They’re going to have a tough task improving that record when they travel to Rome. Lazio have conceded from just 5% of the shots they’ve faced at their own ground. Genoa aren’t that clinical, scoring from just 7% of their attempts away from home.

Lazio carve out just shy of 17 chances per game here, while they convert 11% of those attempts. Genoa face 11.8 shots per away trip on average, conceding from 13% of those. The away side could struggle with set plays here too. The Biancocelesti have scored six of their goals so far from set pieces. Given how the visitors concede 17 fouls per game, Lazio should get quite a few free-kicks to take advantage of.

Everything here points to goals for the home side and a tough afternoon for the visitors. Lazio are a better side overall, and we’re backing their class to shine through. We’re backing the hosts on the -1 Asian Handicap, which is priced at 21/20 with bet365.
