      Leeds vs Swansea City Predictions

Saturday pits together the top two sides in the Championship, with Swansea aiming to cause a surprise at Elland Road. While Leeds were expected to fight it out for promotion, we didn’t expect this much from Swansea so soon. Back in April, this could have easily been a future promotion clash, but since then the Swans have lost their manager and two key players. With little sign of that in their early form, the Swans look like a real threat going into this clash.

Leeds United went out of the Carabao Cup in midweek, with Stoke claiming a penalty shootout win at Elland Road. Marcelo Bielsa is never really one for the cup competitions, as his Leeds side have made early exits on three occasions so far. Now they need to return to form ahead of a crucial clash with a Swansea side who have won their last three league games on the spin.

The Welsh side have enjoyed a surprise start, with boss Steve Cooper confounding expectations in order to take the club into the top two after five matches. While staying there will be a hell of a task, but that isn’t the goal for Swansea this term. This almost feels like their first season after relegation, another year which is about stabilising and securing the club ahead of a playoff push. While they are in great shape heading into this weekend, the Welsh side aren’t under any pressure to conserve what they have.

We expect Swansea to head here with an attacking mindset. They are coming into this game following a run of four games in which the Swans have scored three goals each time plus 6 in the League cup, while they’ve racked up 14 goals for the campaign already. They head to Elland Road hoping to add to that decent record in front of goal, while their talents up front should worry Leeds.

The hosts have attacking quality of their own, having scored two goals or more in four of their last five. They’ve hit five past Stoke in the past week, while their recent record against Swansea has been high scoring. The last five clashes between these two have seen over 2.5 scored in each, while five of the Swans’ last seven trips in this competition have seen at least three goals. That has us backing over 2.5 goals here, along with a 2-1 victory for the league leaders.
