Tip Reasoning

  • Leeds are without a win in six Premier League games this season, drawing three of them.
  • Watford are unbeaten against Leeds in their last five competitive meetings.
  • Ismaila Sarr has scored four goals in six Premier League outings this season.

Whites struggle to get going

Leeds dropped into the relegation zone last weekend as they fell to their third Premier League defeat of the season at home to West Ham. They remain without a league win this season and with injuries still plaguing them that run could continue against Watford on Saturday.

Marcelo Bielsa’s Whites will be without Robin Koch, Luke Ayling and Patrick Bamford once again this weekend, while Raphinha is also a slight doubt after being forced off last weekend.

Watford perform above expectations

Watford are enjoying a much more promising start to the season than expected. Their draw against Newcastle last time out took their tally to seven points from six games and with form on their side they can be quietly confident about their chances at Elland Road.

Ismaila Sarr will be looking forward to this fixture, too. The right-sided attacker has scored four goals in six league games this season and is at his finest when he has space ahead of him, which is exactly what Bielsa’s setup at Leeds allows. The hosts have conceded 14 league goals already this term and Sarr looks great value to add to his tally here.

Hornets can defy the odds at Elland Road

It’s something of a surprise to see Leeds as odds-on favourites here. They are yet to win a Premier League game this season and Watford have looked very good over the last couple of weeks.

The Hornets also have history on their side. They are unbeaten in their last five meetings with Leeds and have won their last four, so I’m backing a Watford double chance here.

However, with three of Leeds United’s last five games ending all square and two of them being 1-1 draws I’m expecting the spoils to be shared and backing a 1-1 correct score prediction.

Leeds predicted lineup: Meslier; Shackleton, Struijk, Cooper, Firpo; Raphinha, Dallas, Phillips, Klich, Harrison; Rodrigo

Watford predicted lineup: Foster; Femenia, Troost-Ekong, Cathcart, Rose; Tufan, Sissoko; Sarr, Cleverley, Dennis, King

  • Six of Leeds’ last eight Premier League home games have ended with both sides scoring
  • Leeds have gone three Premier League home games without a win
