Fulham to Win

Reason for tip

Leicester have lost all of their clashes with the top nine this season, while they’ve failed to beat any team above them in the table. The Cottagers have won seven of 11 games against sides below them in the standings, while they’ve won both games since returning to action.

Leicester City vs Fulham Predictions

  • Leicester have failed to beat any top half side this term, losing all but one of those games
  • Fulham have won seven of 11 games against sides below them in the table
  • The Foxes have lost half of their home games so far this term
  • Fulham have returned to action with two wins from two post World Cup

Fulham in European mix

Fulham sit seventh in the Premier League after a brilliant return following the World Cup break. The Cottagers have won their last two games to put themselves in the fight for Europe. After half a decade of bouncing between the first and second tiers, Marco Silva could lead them into the Europa League next term.

Leicester expected to bounce back this season and factor into the European race, but they’ve had another disappointing campaign. While the Foxes have recovered from their poor start to move away from the drop zone, they’re still not performing well enough to stop top teams. Given how well Fulham have started, they could prove too strong for Leicester this week.

Leicester’s bad run

Leicester’s good run has lifted them to 13th, having looked like relegation contenders after losing six of their first seven games of the campaign. However, they were able to turn their campaign around after a favourable run of fixtures. The Foxes have claimed all of their five wins this season against sides currently below them.

Against teams above them, it’s a very different story. Leicester have yet to beat any of the 12 teams ahead of them in the standings, while they’ve picked up a single point against the current top 10. The Foxes have lost all eight encounters with the top nine heading into the New Year, including three home defeats.

Overall, the Foxes have lost half of their eight home league games this term, while they’ve had a disappointing return to action. The hosts have lost both games since the World Cup break ended, including a calamitous 2-1 loss at Liverpool on Friday.

Fulham are good value for victory

While Leicester are struggling to match any of the top 10, Fulham have their sights set higher. All but one of the Cottagers’ league defeats this term have come against the top five, while they have a terrific record against those below them in the table.

Silva’s side have won seven of their 11 matches against the teams below them in the standings, including their recent wins over Crystal Palace and Southampton. Given the respective form of these two sides and their results to date this season, Fulham don’t deserve to be such underdogs for this game. They have looked like the stronger of the two teams this season and they’ve proven themselves on the road, so back the Cottagers to produce a victory, with a 2-1 away win my correct score prediction.
