Leicester City vs Napoli Predictions

• Napoli have won all three of their games this season, including a 2-1 win over Juventus last time out.
• Leicester have lost two of their last three games.
• The visitors are unbeaten in their last nine competitive games (W9, D3).

Napoli can take advantage of faltering Foxes

This fixture could have been a Champions League clash had results in the final rounds of fixtures in England and Italy gone differently last season, and we should be in line for a high quality affair when Napoli arrive at the King Power Stadium.

The Partenopei will feel they have a genuine chance of fighting it out for the Scudetto this season in what looks the most open Serie A we’ve seen in years.  As such, there is a chance Napoli boss Luciano Spalletti could opt to make a few changes for this Europa League tie. However, he will also be keen to maintain their momentum after a perfect start to the season and with the Foxes looking like Napoli’s main rivals in Group C my gut feeling is we’ll see a best XI start for the Italians.

Leicester have had a mixed start to the season after beating Manchester City in the Community Shield with two wins and two defeats, including a 1-0 defeat to City at home last time out.  We should also see the best XI from the hosts on Thursday but boss Brendan Rodgers could use this game as an opportunity to give a few of his fringe men and new arrivals a few minutes even if they don’t start, with summer signing Patson Daka still awaiting a first start for his new club.

Napoli claimed an eye-catching win over Juventus in their last fixture and are unbeaten in their last 12 competitive games (W9, D3).  At a big price, the visitors look worth the risk here to me given their strong start to the season and a 2-1 win for Napoli is my correct score prediction.  Leicester deserve to be rated as favourites, but they weren’t particularly impressive in the Europa League last season despite finishing top of their group and a Napoli win stands out for value in what looks an evenly matched tie.
