Hosts struggling at the back

After a disappointing start to the 2023 Uruguay Primera Division campaign, Liverpool Montevideo found their feet towards the end of the Apertura stage and have carried that form into the Torneo Intermedio, winning both outings so far and scoring six goals in the process.

They have, however, conceded three goals in these two fixtures and have struggled at the back all season, offering defending Primera Division champions Nacional an area to exploit after they thrashed Deportivo Maldonado 4-0 last time out.

The visitors drew their Torneo Intermedio opener at Cerro but are coming off the back of an excellent end to the Apertura campaign, dropping just two points in their final five games to finish second behind old rivals Penarol.

Nacional scored 14 times in that five-game run and will be confident of troubling a home defence that have conceded in each of their last nine games, but they are unlikely to have it all their own way.

Liverpool have scored in all eight of their home games this season and have found the net in each of their last three meetings with Nacional, so back both teams to get on the scoresheet on Friday.
