Liverpool vs Norwich Predictions
Liverpool’s 1-1 draw in the Europa League group stage against Bordeaux on Thursday took their winless run in all competitions to four matches.
Two of these have ended in defeat, with a 3-0 loss at home to West Ham and then a 3-1 loss to arch rivals Manchester United.
Both of these losses will have hurt the Liverpool fans a lot. They hadn’t lost at Anfield to West Ham since the 1960s, and every defeat to Manchester United is a massive blow.
Their points tally stands at seven points from their opening five games, leaving them in a disappointing mid table position and putting Brendan Rodgers’ position under scrutiny.
A loss at home to Norwich could seal his fate, so the squad will be doing all they can to save their bosses job on Sunday.
But Norwich are in good form, especially for a newly promoted side. They have only lost to Crystal Palace and Southampton, conceding three goals on both occasions.
But they outclassed Sunderland in a 3-1 win, earned a hard fought draw against Stoke, and dismantled Bournemouth last weekend when they beat them 3-0.
Nathan Redmond and Wes Hoolahan can definitely cause the faltering Liverpool defence on Sunday, but Norwich haven’t kept a clean sheet all season so I think Liverpool will fire back with some goals of their own.
Christian Benteke’s goal against Manchester United may not have changed the result, but the stunning overhead kick showcased just why so much money was spent on him.
Joe Allen and Daniel Sturridge could be in line for a surprise return from injury in this game, but Jordan Henderson is expected to miss out and Jon Flanagan is still out for the hosts. Crystal Palace will just be without Youssouff Mulumbu, with Gary Hooper hoping to be fit in time.
I think a bet of Both Teams to Score at excellent odds of 5/6 is what I’m going to back, along with a 3-1 Liverpool win at 14/1.
