Liverpool vs Sion Betting Tips

Liverpool finally managed to get themselves a win on Saturday after a run of six games without one.

Their 3-2 victory over the struggling Aston Villa will have lifted some of the increasingly heavy weight off Brendan Rodgers’ shoulders, but more wins will be required if he is to last longer than Christmas.

Despite struggling against a poor Aston Villa side, the Liverpool fans’ hopes will have been lifted slightly after seeing Daniel Sturridge get on the scoresheet twice for the first time since March.

But Rodgers’ has come out today and said that his injury prone striker won’t be playing against Sion on Thursday, as he wants him fully fit for the upcoming Merseyside derby.

Either way, Liverpool still aren’t in the best of form. They have won once in their last seven games in all competitions, with four draws and two losses making up the remaining six results.

This leaves them down in 9^th position in the Premier League, and they look in no position to start challenging for the Champions League positions this season.

Sion have improved since last season by the looks of things. They finished in a disappointing 7^th in the Swiss Super League last term, only qualifying for continental competition thanks to their Swiss Cup win.

They now sit in an improved 5^th position after ten league games, although they are coming into this match on the back of two straight defeats in the league.

Sion are topping their Europa League group though thanks to their 2-1 win over Rubin Kazan in the opening game, and they definitely have a chance against a Liverpool side who could only manage a win on penalties against Carlisle last week.

Liverpool have been struggling to find the back of the net recently, and with Daniel Sturridge unlikely to feature I imagine that they will struggle again. This, coupled with the fact that six of their last seven combined matches have ended with less than three goals, makes me think that odds of 1/1 for Under 2.5 Goals are excellent value.
