Liverpool vs Swansea Predictions

Liverpool made it back to back Premier League games without a win last weekend as a last ditch Zlatan Ibrahimovic goal saw them draw 1-1 at Old Trafford. Overall it was a pleasing performance away from home against an out of form side, but they are now a full seven points behind Premier League leaders Chelsea.

Tottenham, who are one of the form sides in the league at the moment, have now leapfrogged them into 2nd place as well, whilst they only have a three point cushion in the top four. The title could well be beyond them now, but a top four finish would surely be classed as a success for Jurgen Klopp.

Their recent poor form, which saw them go on a four match winless streak in all competitions prior to a 1-0 win away at Plymouth on Wednesday in their FA Cup replay, was largely down to an uncharacteristic lack of goals. That shouldn’t be a problem against Swansea though. Star man Phillipe Coutinho should be fit enough to start after his lengthy injury layoff, and whilst they are without Sadio Mane they are also facing the worst defensive side in the competition.

Swansea shipped four at home to Arsenal last weekend to make it six defeats and one win in their last seven games in all competitions. This leaves them rock bottom of the Premier League table, although they are only one point from safety in what could turn out to be a very entertaining relegation battle.

All their problems lie at the back, with them conceding a huge 49 goals in 21 appearances this season and 20 goals in their last seven matches. Away from home it gets no better for the Swans, where they have conceded an average of 2.2 goals per game and have lost eight of their last ten in all competitions.

This will have Liverpool’s abundant attack watering at the mouth, and whilst they may be missing top scorer Sadio Mane they still have a huge amount of talent going forward. One of the most recently impressive has been Adam Lallana, with him netting seven league goals so far this season and laying on seven assists too. Because of this he looks the best choice for our anytime goalscorer predictions at best priced 15/8 with Paddy Power.

As far as the overall result goes, looking beyond Liverpool is difficult. Swansea have conceded at least three goals in five of their ten away days in the Premier League this season, with all of those five coming in their last seven games. Liverpool have scored at least three in four of their nine at home, with all of those demolitions coming against teams of a similar level to Swansea. This makes odds of 5/6 for Liverpool Over 2.5 Team Goals look a good backing, so I’m going for that alongside a 4-1 correct score predictions at huge odds of 16/1.
