Livingston vs Berwick Predictions
Bottom-placed Berwick Rangers will travel to West Lothian where they’ll be hosted by Livingston at the Tony Macaroni Arena in the final League Cup group stage game. Can Berwick cause an upset?
Livingston are in fine form at the moment as Gary Holt’s men currently top their group in the Scottish League Cup after their most recent outing against Stranraer. Livi were playing away from home in this tie, and it was a crucial one at that. Both Steven Lawless and Aymen Souda scored on the brink of half-time in otherwise dull game. Despite Cameron Elliott pulling one back for Stranraer, Livi did enough to hold on and take all 3 points.
Livingston have had a good pre-season overall and they are undefeated in 6 of the 7 games they’ve played so far. After an initial 1-1 draw in a friendly against Sered, Holt¡s side lost to Paksi SE, although they have failed to lose ever since. A total of 4 wins would ensue, as well as a 1-1 draw with Falkirk in their opening game of the League Cup in which they also picked up a bonus point.
Down south in England, Berwick Rangers have had a much tougher few weeks. The Black & Gold have just come from yet another loss, this time losing 3-0 to Falkirk on Tuesday. Berwick didn’t really stand a chance, as the Bairns scored within the first 15 minutes to get the jump on the hosts. However, Ian Little’s side held on relatively well until they finally conceded their 2nd of the evening 7 minutes into the second-half and Falkirk sealed the deal with 15 minutes to go as they scored their 3rd.
Pre-season has not been kind to Berwick Rangers, despite winning their first and only friendly 2-0 against Coldstream. They have since suffered huge losses to Ayr United, Stranraer and Falkirk, conceding 16 goals in their last 3 games alone whilst also failing to score a single time.
While Livingston’s qualification for the next round isn’t 100% guaranteed, the West Lothian club are in a very comfortable position going into this game, and as long as the other results go their way then they should face no troubles progressing. Berwick Rangers have no chance of making it through, so it really is just a glorified friendly to them, which is why we’re going to back Livi to win and both teams not to score, with a final result of 4-0.
