Ludogorets vs Basel Predictions
Ludogorets and Basel have both seen their Champions League campaign predictably cut short by the dominance of PSG and Arsenal. Both teams have picked up just one point from their opening four games and sit nine points adrift of the top two, meaning the only thing left to play for is 3rd place in the group to make it into the Europa League knockout stages.
With both sides facing a likely defeat in their final group game, that makes this one a crunch tie. Whoever wins this match will probably finish 3rd and make it through to the Europa League knockout stages, and it’s a very finely balanced clash.
Ludogorets are bottom on goal difference but managed to get a draw away to Basel. The Bulgarians are six points clear at the top of the First League table and have won six of their last seven games in all competitions. Their only defeat was the collapse at home to Arsenal, where they inexplicably led by two goals only to lose the match 3-2.
Basel have a ridiculous lead in the Swiss Super League, dropping just four points in their 15 games and sitting a huge 15 points clear of closest rivals Sion. The league title is all but wrapped up for them already, so a Europa League campaign will add in some much needed excitement.
The visitors beat Vaduz 6-0 at home on Saturday and have won four of their last five, and they will be turning towards Seydou Doumbia on Wednesday. The former Roma forward has netted nine league goals this season, but hasn’t managed to find the net in the Champions League yet. Still he scored two on Saturday and will be the main threat for the visitors, so he could be a good choice for our anytime goalscorer predictions.
Ludogorets have their own star player going forward as well. Claudiu Keseru has netted 13 goals in all competitions this season and scored against Arsenal in his last Champions League match. The 29 year old will be high on confidence at the moment so he looks an excellent option for a Ludogorets scorer.
Barring their predictable defeats to PSG and Arsenal, Ludogorets have been very impressive on home turf this season. They have won eight league matches in a row at home, and considering they managed a draw away to Basel, I think they have enough to get three points on Wednesday. Odds of 1.950 for a Ludogorets 0.0 Asian Handicap Win look excellent value as our main predictions, and I’m going for a 2-1 correct score prediction at 9/1 as well.
