Both Teams To Score

Reason for tip

There have been goals at both ends in 13 of Luton’s last 14 games across all competitions and they have just one clean sheet in their last 17. Both teams have scored in Brentford’s last four away games and both teams scored in the reverse fixture (3-1 to the Bees) so goals at both ends looks likely.

Luton 2-1

Reason for tip

Luton have shown a bit of resolve at home and they have four points from their last two games, while they performed well in defeat to two members of the current top six prior to that. Brentford have nine defeats in their last 12 away games and the hosts are clearly the team in the greater need of points as they sit inside the drop zone. Luton can edge this game and a 2-1 win appeals as they have scored exactly twice in three of their last four home games, while Brentford average just over one goal per-game on their travels.

Ross Barkley To Score Anytime

Reason for tip

Ross Barkley scored for Luton in their defeat to Manchester City last weekend and can score in back-to-back games by grabbing a goal against the Bees. The former Everton and Chelsea midfielder has two goals and one assist in his last six games and can add to his five Premier League goals for the season.

Luton vs Brentford Predictions

  • Both teams have scored in 13 of Luton’s last 14 games.
  • Both teams have scored in six of Brentford’s last eight.
  • The Bees have lost nine of their last 12 away from home across all comps (W1, D2).

Survival the aim for Luton and Bees

Luton were written off by most before the campaign began but the Hatters remain well placed in the survival battle, sitting just one point adrift of safety ahead of Saturday’s key clash with drop rivals Brentford.

The Bees are seven points clear of danger and probably still need a few more points before they can count themselves as safe, although a four-game unbeaten run suggests they are heading in the right direction.

Brentford’s away form has been fairly poor, however, and I’m opting for a win for Luton in my correct score prediction – but the standout bet here looks to be both teams to score.

Expect goals at both ends at Kenilworth Road

Luton have been a dream for both teams to score backers and there have been goals at both ends in 13 of their last 14 games across all competitions, while they have just one clean sheet in their last 17.

Goals at both ends has also been a feature of Brentford’s games, landing in six of their last eight overall and in each of their last four away from home.

Home advantage key

Brentford have hit a bit of form of late as they are unbeaten in four, including a sensational 3-3 draw at Aston Villa in their last time away game where they fought back from 2-0 down to lead.

However, Luton’s need is greater and that, alongside home advantage, could prove the difference here in what could be a close game. The Hatters have four points from their last two at Kenilworth Road and prior to that performed well in defeats to Villa and Manchester United.

A 2-1 win for Luton is the correct score pick as they have scored exactly twice in three of their last four home games, while Brentford average 1.25 goals-per-game on their travels.

Ross Barkley scored for Luton in their defeat to Manchester City last weekend and he looks a good outside candidate for an anytime effort here. The former Everton and Chelsea midfielder has two goals and one assist in his last six games and can add to his five Premier League goals for the season against the Bees.
