Lyngby vs AaB Predictions
Lyngby’s main aim this season is going to be survival after making a return to the top flight after almost going out of business a little over a year ago. The opening day of the Superliga season sees Lyngby pit against an AaB side they don’t have the best of records against, and after just missing out on a top-six finish Sunday’s visitors will be determined to challenge for the European places this time around.
Lyngby saw one of their pre-season friendlies cancelled due to their participation in the playoffs where they narrowly beat Vendsyssel 4-3 on aggregate. Following that success, Lyngby then went on to beat Helsingor and Malmo in their remaining friendlies and will be confident of pulling off an opening day victory this weekend. AaB also only played two pre-season friendlies last month but remained unbeaten after drawing with Ajax and defeating Horsens 4-0.
The recent head to head record between these two sides and the performances of both teams since the end of last season, all points towards over 2.5 goals being scored in Sunday’s match and AaB claiming all three points. Four of the last six meetings between these two clubs have seen both teams score and over 2.5 goals and AaB have won four of the last five encounters between the pair. Four of Lyngby’s last five matches have seen both teams score and over 2.5 goals, which is why we’re backing a 2-1 win for AaB on Sunday.
Lucas Andersen spent last season on-loan at AaB from Swiss side Grasshopper where the Danish forward scored 10 goals in 23 league games, so Sunday’s guests will be glad to have remained hold of the striker for the 2019/20 campaign. Jeppe Kjær top-scored in the league for Lyngby last season with 9 goals but has since been transferred to Helsingor and the newly promoted club might end up rueing not keeping hold of the forward.
We’re confident that over 2.5 goals will be scored in Sunday’s game and have predicted a 2-1 final scoreline in favour of AaB. The visitors have a really good record against their hosts and have retained the majority of their key players, while Lyngby are expected to battle relegation and head into the opener without their top scorer of last season.
