Lyon vs Ajaccio Predictions

A brand new season gets underway in Ligue 1 on Friday night as Lyon welcome newly-promoted Ajaccio to Parc Olympique Lyonnais.

Lyon looking for improvement

The hosts had a pretty underwhelming time last season as they finished in seventh place – well below what they woul’ve been expecting. But now they have another opportunity to put things right, starting here. They have made some impressive signings during the transfer window as Alexandre Lacazette and Corentin Tolisso both return home. They’ll be happy to be facing Ajaccio at home in the first match given that they have scored in 15 successive meetings with the visitors.

A return to the top flight is the reward for Ajaccio after securing a second place finish in Ligue 2 last season. However, so far they haven’t managed to bring in faces of real quality but have rather signed a few players as free agents from struggling Ligue 1 outfits. It doesn’t bode well and they could be in for an arduous campaign.

Lyon to secure win in exciting matchup

We’re expecting the hosts to be simply too good for the visitors. However, Lyon’s defence had a glass jaw last campaign and whilst wee’re impressed with their attacking signings, we still think they can be got at. We’ll be siding with Lyon to edge a high scoring encounter.
