Wounded Lyon to get back on track

Lyon were eliminated from the Champions League in midweek, but a home clash against Le Havre is the perfect fixture for them to get back to winning ways.

Turkish giants Fenerbahce proved too much for them in the play-off round of Europe’s elite competition, but that was their first defeat in four.

Paulo Fonseca’s troops beat Toulouse 2-0 on the opening weekend of the new Ligue 1 season, while Le Havre fell to a 1-0 defeat.

Le Havre have found winning very difficult in recent months and they were fortunate to avoid the drop last season after winning one of their last 12 Ligue 1 games.

Their inability to threaten teams away from home has been a major Achilles’ heel, and that issue should continue this weekend.

Le Havre have not scored on two of their last three visits to Parc Olympique Lyonnais and Lyon kept eight clean sheets in 12 home wins last season.

While Lyon should not have too many issues recording a clean sheet, their morale may be a little low after their European exit and after a tough few days, they will be happy to take a narrow win as they try to build a platform for the rest of the campaign.
