Olympiacos Double Chance (Win or Draw)

Reason for tip

Lyon lost 3-2 to a team that played the majority of the game with ten men on Sunday and it’s hard to have faith in them getting a win here, something they have only managed to do once this season, and Olympiacos are fancied to at least avoid defat in this match.

Draw 2-2

Reason for tip

Four of Olympicaos’ last seven European games have gone over 3.5 goals and given the struggles at the back for Lyon this season, this looks set to be another, take the 2-2 draw as a correct score bet.

Lyon vs Olympiacos Predictions

  • Lyon have won just one of their five games this season
  • Four or more goals have been scored in four of Olympiacos’ last seven European games
  • Olympiacos won the Conference League last season

Hosts hard to put faith in at present

Lyon have had a poor start to the new season and they are hard to fancy when they meet Olympiacos in the first game of their Europa League campaign.

The home side have taken just four points from the first 15 available in Ligue 1 and were beaten 3-2 by a Marseille team that had a man sent off after five minutes on Sunday.

Weakness at the back has been a real issue for OL this term, they have conceded 11 goals already this season and off the field matters seem to be impacting their performances on the park.

Olympiacos won their first ever European trophy last term, lifting the Conference League with a 1-0 victory over Fiorentina in the final.

They beat Aston Villa and Fenerbahce along the way so by no means had an easy run and they have managed to make some solid additions to that squad, with Roman Yaremchuk, Willian and Sergio Oliveira joining this summer.

The visitors are not to be underestimated and they are taken to at least avoid defeat against a Lyon side that will be reeling from their weekend’s loss.

Four of the Greek team’s last seven European games have gone over 2.5 goals so correct score backers should keep a 2-2 draw on side.
