Malaga vs Real Sociedad Predictions
These two sides have been two of the most inconsistent in La Liga this term. At times they’ve played some excellent football, particularly Real Sociedad but inept defensive showings have haunted them both. Therefore, this game is certainly one with the potential to produce goals.
Malaga were rocked by the surprise resignation of Juande Ramos just days before Christmas and are attempting to rebuild under new boss Marcelo Romero. The goals have continued to flow at both ends though with both teams having scored in all of their last 5 games in all competitions. Malaga’s home games in La Liga this term have produced 3.5 goals per game on average and there were also 7 goals in their most recent match at La Rosaleda, a shock 4-3 defeat against Second Tier Cordoba in the Copa del Rey. Both teams have scored in 75% of their home matches in La Liga but Malaga have scored the bulk of those goals, averaging an impressive 2.13 per game on their own patch.
The have hosted a lot of the weaker sides though and up against a strong Real Sociedad attack, they could really be exposed at the back. La Real are attempting to get back on track after a 4-0 home defeat against Sevilla last weekend. They had won 6 of their previous 8 league games so it came as a bit of a surprise but they are prone to the odd defensive nightmare, as their 5-1 defeat at struggling Deportivo La Coruna in December also proved.
Their away games overall have produced 3.25 goals per game with an equal number scored and conceded. Up top they boast one of the most dangerous forward lines in the league. The focal point of their attack is Willian Jose, who has netted an impressive 9 league goals in his first season for the Basque club. That puts him 5th in La Liga’s goal-scoring charts and there looks to be real value here backing Willian Jose to score anytime at 12/5, given how suspect Malaga have looked at the back.
Overall the stats and the kind of season these two sides have been having suggests this will be an open game with chances at both ends of the pitch. Given that backing Both Teams to Score at 4/5 looks to offer value.
