Manchester City to Win and Over 3.5 Match Goals

Reason for tip

Manchester City have won nine of their ten games since being defeated by Arsenal in the Community Shield and they should have little issue building on that excellent record when hosting AEK Athens. Expect the hosts to hit the Greek visitors hard, too, with over 3.5 goals expected to land for the fifth City home game in a row.

Manchester City 4-1

Reason for tip

AEK Athens look set for a miserable match on the whole, but there is some hope they can grab a consolation. City have conceded nine goals in four games and were carved open a fair few times by Ipswich on Saturday. The Citizens have scored 15 goals in their last four home matches, though, so a 4-1 scoreline appeals.

Manchester City vs Aek Athens Predictions

  • Manchester City have won nine of their ten games since the Community Shield
  • AEK Athens have scored in both of their Champions League games
  • Four of City’s last five games have featured at least four goals

City can get Champions League tilt back on track

Last week’s 4-2 defeat to Champions League holders Paris Saint-Germain brought an end to Manchester City’s perfect start to the campaign but it did not take long for the Premier League leaders to bounce back.

Enzo Maresca’s side edged past Ipswich 3-2 to make it seven wins from seven in England’s top flight and they are an extremely short price to follow up when hosting AEK Athens on Tuesday.

AEK were comfortably beaten 3-1 by Shakhtar last week and it is hard to see them enjoying a trip to the Etihad.

Exciting Etihad encounter on the cards

City have been in fine scoring form on home soil, netting 15 goals in their last four Etihad outings, and they are likely to hit their Greek visitors hard in their bid to make it six points from a possible nine in the Champions League.

Maresca’s men have been less convincing at the back, with Ipswich’s two strikes making it nine goals conceded in four games, so there is hope that AEK can grab a consolation and help bring up a high scoring tally in Manchester.
