Manchester City couldn’t have picked a better time to be going head to head with the Serie A champions and Champions League finalists.
Juventus have started the season beyond poorly, losing their opening two games against Roma and Udinese and drawing at home against Chievo on Saturday. This is a far cry from the team we saw dominate Italy last season and eliminate Real Madrid from the Champions League.
Manchester City, on the other hand, look like a team on a mission. They are still holding on to their 100% record in the Premier League after beating Crystal Palace on Saturday.
This puts them at the top of the table with 15 points from their opening five games, and they still haven’t conceded a goal this season.
The last time Joe Hart saw the ball in the back of his own net was all the way back at the beginning of August in a friendly match against Stuttgart.
However, Manchester City will be well aware of the fact that they haven’t performed at their best in the Champions League in recent years, and the absence of Sergio Aguero through injury won’t do them any favours either.
The last time these two sides met was back in 2010 when they played each other in the Europa League, with both matches ending in 1-1 draws.
Juventus’ poor form will be a huge boost to Manchester City, who probably let out a sigh when they saw that they had been drawn with one of the toughest teams in the competition.
I’m expecting a Manchester City win on Tuesday. Juventus terrible start to the season, the fact that they’re playing away from home, and Manchester City’s excellent form make odds of 4/5 look like really good value for a home win. A 2-0 correct score bet at 13/2 looks a nice price too.
