Tip Reasoning

Manchester City’s unbeaten streak extended on Saturday as they beat Sunderland 2-0 at the Stadium of Light, to make it seven wins and two draws from their last nine outings in all competitions. This leaves them in 3rd position in the Premier League, although more importantly they are also in an excellent position in the Champions League.

To be honest their chances of lifting the Premier League title appear to be getting ever slimmer with Chelsea’s continued dominance at the top of the table. They are now 11 points clear of 3rd placed Manchester City and aren’t showing any signs of slowing down.

It’s undeniable that Pep Guardiola has seen his new side slip up more times than expected this season, but at the Etihad they remain a force to be reckoned with. They have lost just once there all season and have won six of their last seven games.

Scoring goals isn’t something they have a problem with, averaging almost two per game in the Premier League. The other end of the pitch is where some issues start to creep in though. They have conceded in 12 of their last 13 home matches in all competitions, so a clean sheet at either end at the Etihad is a bet I would rarely recommend.

Stoke find themselves in a respectable 9th position in the Premier League after their 2-0 win over the dreadful Middlesbrough on Saturday, leaving them with two wins, two draws, and two defeats from their last six matches in all competitions.

The most recent of these defeats was a 4-0 battering at Spurs, which highlights a rather troubling problem The Potters have. They simply cannot perform when they visit the top teams, losing 4-0 to Spurs, 4-2 to Chelsea, 4-1 to Liverpool, and 3-1 to Arsenal.

They have also lost five of their last six trips away in the Premier League. Despite their defensive woes they do manage to find the net with decent regularity though, only failing to score in three of their 14 trips away in all competitions this season.

This makes odds of 8/5 for a Manchester City Win and Both Teams to Score look an excellent value bet, so I’m backing that alongside a 4-1 correct score predictions at 16/1.
