Manchester United vs West Ham Predictions
Manchester United and West Ham faced off at Old Trafford on Sunday, and it’s fair to say that the hosts didn’t enjoy the best afternoon. They went behind in under two minutes and despite Zlatan Ibrahimovic pulling one back in the first half they couldn’t find a winner, whilst Jose Mourinho was sent to the stands to put the icing on a very poorly made cake for Manchester United.
This did extend their unbeaten streak to four games, but only three of their last eight outings have ended in victory for them and they already find themselves well adrift of the Premier League title race.
Previously this season Jose Mourinho has fielded a fairly strong squad in the League Cup. Zlatan Ibrahimovic started in their last round win over Manchester City and his goal on Sunday made it eight for the season in all competitions. Backing him to find the net at 4/6 looks a good option for our anytime goalscorer predictions.
West Ham have also shown they are taking the competition seriously with strong squad selections against Accrington Stanley and Chelsea, so we could see a very good tussle on Wednesday.
The draw on Sunday made it four games without a win for West Ham though, with two of those being defeats. They find themselves all the way down in 17th position in the Premier League after an awful opening portion of the campaign, and away from home they have lost six, drawn two, and won just one of their nine outings in all competitions this season.
West Ham have scored in eight of these nine games though, whilst Manchester United have now conceded in four of their last five in all competitions and are still without key defensive partnership Eric Bailly and Chris Smalling.
This makes odds of 10/11 for Both Teams to Score look a very promising prediction, and I’m going for that as my main backing. In terms of the overall result I think Manchester United have the advantage with their strength in depth following on from Sunday’s game, so I’m backing a 2-1 correct score prediction at 7/1.
