Marseille will want to go all the way

Hosts Marseille dropped into the UEFA Europa Conference League (UECL) knockout stages after a relatively underwhelming UEFA Europa League (UEL) campaign. They managed to secure victory on matchday six and that result ended a run of 13 matches without a win in the competition. They come into this tournament as one of the favourites to go all the way, and it’s easy to see why considering they’ve featured in a European final as recently as 2018.

The visitors are currently on a run of four straight victories in competitive matches and sit top of the Azerbaijani top flight via a ten-point margin. They now make the nearly eight-hour flight to Marseille to take part in their first-ever European knockout game. Qarabag have not performed well against French opposition of late, in fact, they’ve failed to win any of their previous six encounters with sides from France. The visitors have scored after the 70th minute in four of their last five European away fixtures and will be confident of creating chances if the game is tight in the latter stages.

Hosts to dominate

Marseille are clear favourites here and we think the market is right, we think the hosts will emerge victorious here. It’s hard to say how Qarabag will handle the occasion as it’s their first-ever knockout match. We think they could struggle and we don’t see them scoring, as such, we think the value is on only one side to hit the back of the net.
