Melbourne City vs Western Sydney Wanderers Predictions
- There have been three or fewer goals in three of Melbourne City’s last four games
- Four of Western Sydney’s five league games this season have included less than three goals
- City have only lost two of their last 17 home games
Solid start for City
Melbourne City have had a strong enough start to the A-League season, picking up eight points from five games to sit in mid-table.
The bedrock to their decent form has been a solid defence who have already kept three clean sheets in all competitions, including league wins over Perth and South Melbourne.
On top of that, they have scored in all bar one of their matches so far, but goals have not been particularly fluent, with three of their last four games ending 1-0.
Western not scoring enough
While City might be finding the back of the net regularly, the same cannot be said for Western Sydney, who have already failed to score in three games this season, including the last two.
Wanderers sit in fifth place in the table, and although their only league win of the campaign did come on the road, it was against Wellington Phoenix, who themselves have not had the best of starts.
Four of their last five matches have contained fewer than five goals, and, given their problems in front of goal and City’s frugal defence, I expect a similar outcome in this fixture.
I am predicting there will be fewer than three goals in the match, with a 2-0 victory to Melbourne City as my correct score prediction.
