      Middlesbrough vs Blackburn Predictions

The main focus here will certainly be Jordan Rhodes who could make his Boro debut against his former club following his £11million switch. He has been the most consistent goalscorer in the division over the past 4 years and should really help out a Middlesbrough side who are outstanding at the back but do struggle for goals at times.

Just when it looked like they were threatening to run away with the division they have lost their last two in the league and the fact that both were 1-0 defeats explains why they may have gone in for the Rovers forward.

Boro’s position is still strong overall though and they’re in 2nd place, 3 points ahead of the chasing pack with 2 games in hand. They’ve only let in 3 goals at the Riverside all season in the league and kept 9 consecutive home clean sheets prior to their 1-0 defeat to Forest last time out at home.

It’s hard to see Blackburn causing them many problems here. Rovers have the 2nd worst goalscoring record in the league with just 24 goals scored this season. When you consider that Rhodes scored 10 of those goals, you begin to worry for Blackburn a bit and certainly backing a home clean sheet looks a solid bet here at 10/11.

Paul Lambert’s side haven’t won in 7 attempts in the league although have made it through to the FA Cup 5th Round courtesy of good showing at Oxford last weekend.

They don’t concede many and all of their last 5 league defeats have been by 1-0 margins so there is plenty of reason to fancy Boro to clinch this 1-0 at 9/2.
