Tip Reasoning

  • Although Huddersfield are unbeaten in 17 league games, Millwall are without a defeat in seven themselves.
  • Millwall have seen four consecutive games feature under 2.5 goals.
  • The hosts have the joint-third best defensive record in the Championship, while Huddersfield’s is the seventh best.

Two unbeaten runs at stake at the Den

Huddersfield Town’s fantastic unbeaten run was extended to 17 games last Friday, despite the Terriers throwing away a two-goal lead to draw 2-2 with West Bromwich Albion. Carlos Corberan’s men remain well in the mix for automatic promotion, but could face a tough test at Millwall on Wednesday.

While the Terriers have not lost since November, Millwall have put together their own seven-game unbeaten sequence, winning five on the bounce before creditable goalless draws with Blackburn Rovers and Middlesbrough. Gary Rowett’s men have also kept four successive clean sheets during their strong run of form.

Indeed, the Lions’ record of 34 goals conceded in 36 Championship games gives them the joint-third best defensive record in the division, making them one of just five teams to average under a goal against per game. Huddersfield, however, are the seventh best defensive outfit in the league, shipping just 38 times and shutting Millwall out in a 1-0 win earlier this term.

Back fewer than three goals between solid sides

Although Huddersfield’s fantastic form, as well as the extra day of preparation afforded to them before this clash, makes the Terriers favourites for this contest, Millwall’s own strong run could put punters off backing an away win.

On that note, backing under 2.5 goals, which has been a winner in five of Millwall’s last six games and in each of their last four, looks a prudent tip for what could be a tight affair. Another 1-0 win for Huddersfield, meanwhile, looks a decent correct score prediction.
