Molde vs Brann Predictions

Molde had a disappointing season last year. After winning the Norwegian Cup for two consecutive years and doing the Norwegian double in 2014 they ended the 2015 season in 6th position in the Eliteserien and were knocked out of the cup in the quarter finals. The one positive was that they managed to make it to the knockout stages of the Europa League for the first time, but after their poor season last year they won’t be taking part in it next season.

This season has started more promisingly. They have managed to collect 21 points from their 11 games so far and find themselves in 3rd position. They are seven points adrift of leaders Rosenborg though, and their form has dipped lately.

Molde have lost two and drawn one of their last four matches in all competitions, and if they don’t get back to winning ways soon they may find Rosenborg pulling away even more at the top of the Eliteserien.

Brann had been suffering a painful decline for a couple of seasons recently. They finished 4th in the Eliteserien, then 6th the next season, and 8th the season after that. Finally the inevitable happened and they were relegated in 2014 after finishing 14th. Brann managed to achieve re-promotion at the first time of asking though, and their beginning to life back in the top flight has looked promising so far.

They have won four of their last six matches in all competitions and occupy 6th position in the table. They are only a point adrift of Molde and just three of 2nd placed Odd, so a win on Saturday could send them into 2nd in the table.

Molde have been impressive at home though. They have won their last five matches on the trot there and scored 15 goals in the process, whilst Brann have lost lost four of their last five on the road and only managed to score once.

This makes odds of 1/1 for Both Teams Not to Score excellent value considering Brann have failed to score in four of their last five away games and Molde have kept two clean sheets in their last three home matches. I’m backing a 2-0 win for the hosts as well at 7/1.
