Monaco vs Sparta Prague Predictions
- Both teams have scored in 12 of Monaco’s last 20 Ligue 1 games.
- Both teams have scored in five of Sparta Prague’s last six competitive away games.
- Monaco have won 12 of their last 20 home league games
Monaco hold all the cards
Monaco hold all the cards going into the second leg of their Champions League third qualifying round clash with Sparta Prague on Tuesday.
Nico Kovac’s side were good value for the 2-0 scoreline they achieved at the Letna in their first competitive outing of the season last week.
And the eight-time French champions now have another 90 minutes in their legs after a 1-1 Ligue 1 draw with Nantes on Friday night.
Monaco dominated again, but came up against an inspired Alban Lafont in Les Canaris’ goal, so confidence should remain high in the home camp.
And motivation will be too, given the events of the first leg and the fact that the principality club haven’t participated in the Champions League group stage since 2018-19.
Monaco were very solid at the Stade Louis II last season, winning 12 of 19, and we fully expect them to increase their aggregate advantage over a depleted Sparta line-up.
But better odds are available for both teams to score on Tuesday and the Czech side’s record on the road (16 scored in their last six aways) offers plenty of encouragement that they can register.
And although Kovac insisted that Nantes scored with their only attack on Friday, his side kept only seven home clean sheets last term and have now conceded five in their last three home games.
The Monagasques averaged 2.26 goals themselves at home last season while conceding 1.1 on average, which is why we are backing the hosts to get a 2-1 victory against Sparta.
