Draw 2-2

Reason for tip

AC Milan beat Monza 3-1 in pre-season, but might find things tougher at U-Power Stadium, where the hosts have drawn three of their last four Serie A matches. Their last home result was a 2-2 draw with Veneziua and that may be repeated against a Rossoneri side that recently drew 2-2 at Lazio.

Monza might deny inconsistent Milan

Monza will be looking to repeat last season’s stunning success over AC Milan when they host the reeling Rossoneri at U-Power Stadium on Saturday.

The Lombardy club run by the two main boardroom figures behind Milan’s success in the 1990s and 2000s stunned Stefano Pioli’s side 4-2 at home last April – one of the results that led to him being sacked in the summer.

New boss Paolo Fonseca has been unable to string a run of wins together yet this term, although Milan’s shock 2-1 derby in late September had shut up a few of his critics. However, a 2-0 midweek home defeat to leaders Napoli has ramped the pressure up on the Portuguese coach again ahead of this fixture.

Hosts are hovering dangerously close to the drop zone

Monza, meanwhile, are hovering dangerously close to the relegation zone after recording only one win in their opening 10 league games. However, they have lost only four of those contests and did manage to hold both Inter and fifth-placed Fiorentina in score draws.

A score draw might be the outcome of this game too as long as Wednesday’s insipid display against Atalanta was a one-off. Alessandro Nesta’s side produced an expected goals (xG) tally of 0.11 in Bergamo and thoroughly deserved to be beaten 2-0.

This game is always a big one for them, however, and they will probably rise to the occasion to get on the scoresheet in a game that ought to feature a few goals. Backing Over 2.5 goals is the preferred play here, although both teams to score should also come in at lesser odds.
