Moreirense vs Nacional Predictions

Moreirense still harbour ambitions of European football next season and currently occupy seventh place, just a point behind fifth placed Belenenses. Visitors Nacional have lost their last three league games and now sit just two places and four points above the relegation zone, and another defeat on Monday could see them dragged into the thick of it at the foot of the table.

Moreirense gave a very good account of themselves away at Sporting CP last time out, but lost 2-1. A third minute goal from Nani handed Sporting a dream start to the match and another goal from star player Bruno Fernandes made it 2-0 in the twenty-sixth minute. Heriberto Tavares pulled a goal back for the visitors in the thirty-fourth minute and reminded their hosts that they were still in a match. Sporting held firm in the second half to claim all three points, but struggled to break down a resolute Moreirense defence and were lucky not to concede on the counter attack.

Nacional ended up convincingly beaten in their own backyard 3-0 by high flying Braga, despite the teams heading in at the break goalless. Ricardo Horta broke the deadlock in the sixty-first minute and teammate Murilo doubled the visitors advantage shortly after. Paulinho scored a third goal late on to wrap up another impressive display from Braga who once again proved how clinical they can be in the final third and just why they are title challengers this season.

Moreirense have outperformed Nacional all season long and with their impressive head to head record against their guests we’re expecting a win for the hosts on Monday. Moreirense have won six of their last seven matches against Nacional and head into Monday’s match having won three of their last five matches in the Primeira Liga. The visitors look set for a relegation battle and head into the game against Moreirense having lost each of their last three games in the league.

Moreirense are the form favourites heading into Monday’s match having won three and lost three of their last six matches, as Nacional have lost four and won just two during that same period. Heriberto Tavares scored last time out and leads the way in front of goal for the hosts with five league goals this season, while Argentinian Rochez top scores for the visitors with an impressive eight Primeira Liga goals.

We’re confident that Moreirense will win on Monday, and that the final scoreline will be a narrow 1-0. Moreirense not only have the home advantage, they also have an excellent record against Nacional over the last four seasons, and head into the match as the in form side with three wins from their last five in the Primeira Liga.
