Morton vs St Mirren Betting Tips

Morton certainly didn’t disgrace themselves in their return to the Scottish Championship 2 weeks ago.

They opened the season with a 1-1 draw against Falkirk at home, the week after they demolished Elgin City 5-0 in the Scottish League Cup.

They did lose last weekend, but a 1-0 loss to potential Championship winners Hibernian away from home isn’t a scoreline to be ashamed of.

It definitely looks like Morton are going to make a real go at avoiding relegation this season after their title winning campaign in League One last year saw them clinch the trophy on the final day of the season.

St Mirren are hoping that they will be one of the teams challenging Hibernian for promotion to the Scottish Premier League.

They were automatically relegated after finishing rock bottom of the top flight last season, and then got their Championship campaign off to a losing start at home to Rangers 2 weeks ago.

Their 3-1 loss to the Glaswegian giants was followed up by a 2-1 defeat at home to Dumbarton. Not a great start to a promotion push.

They did manage to defeat Annan Athletic in the Scottish Challenge Cup on Tuesday though, so they will be hoping that they can carry the momentum from that game into their 3^rd league fixture.

The last time these 2 sides met was in 2013, when they played out a friendly match which saw Morton come away with an impressive 4-2 victory. They played another friendly the year before, with St Mirren winning that match 1-0.

St Mirren obviously have a more talented squad of players than the newly promoted Morton, but the form definitely seems to be on the underdogs’ side. I think there’s a really good chance for Morton to get an unexpected result on Friday, and odds of 4/5 for a Morton Win or Draw Double Chance look very good value considering they’re at home.
