Well could edge high-scoring affair

Motherwell and Morton are the two pacesetters in their Scottish League Cup and the pair face off in an intriguing clash at Fir Park on Tuesday.

The Well had to settle for a penalty shootout victory over Clyde in their first game before beating Peterhead 2-1 in their second.

They followed that up with a 1-0 win over Stenhousemuir at the weekend and now face a Morton side who have started strongly with a pair of wins.

The visitors beat Peterhead 4-2 in their opener before putting three past Stenhousemuir last time out.

A victory here would all but assure them a spot in the knockout stages but the Premiership side may be slightly too strong.

While Morton’s wins have been impressive, they have come against teams that they would be expected to beat and a top-flight outfit is a different kettle of fish.

The hosts have won three of the last five meetings between these two teams and are fancied to add to that tally with a narrow success.

Morton should play their part but may ultimately fall short and Motherwell to win and over 2.5 goals is the selection.

The last two head-to-heads have finished 2-1 and a repeat of that looks a solid correct score selection.
