Comfortable win for champions

Over 2.5 goals has been a winning bet in Verona’s last six Serie A games and that trend looks set to continue when they visit Napoli on Wednesday.

Napoli are third in Serie A, 17 places and 25 points above Verona, having won 12, drawn one and lost four of their 17 games this season. In contrast, the visitors have just two wins so far.

Napoli are going for a third successive Serie A win and have won five of their last six league matches, including a 1-0 win over Roma. In contrast, Verona are in poor form, with four reverses in their last six games.

Verona lost 3-0 to Torino on Sunday in their last Serie A outing and the game kept up their recent pattern of games with over 2.5 goals. This was a disappointing result for Verona, who had been priced at 13/8 to win. They have now lost nine of the 12 games this season in which they’ve shipped the first goal (75%).

There have been over 2.5 goals in five of the last seven Serie A meetings between Verona and Napoli. Napoli won the last encounter 2-0, but five of the previous six head-to-heads had three goals or more.

The visitors are looking vulnerable at the back. Verona have been unable to keep their opponents at bay in six straight Serie A games and have conceded 28 goals this season – an average of 1.65 goals per game from 17 matches. Their last clean sheet was against Lecce in November.

Napoli to get a 3-0 home win is the call in the correct-score betting. There have been three goals or more in ten of Verona’s 17 Serie A matches this season, and Napoli’s last two league games have both ended in wins by at least a two-goal margin. For their part, Verona’s last two matches in Serie A have both been 3-0 losses.
