Dortmund are racking up air miles

Borussia Dortmund are playing their third away game in six days, and they’ve been handed some big trips in the Champions League. Dortmund drew 0-0 at Union Berlin at the weekend, just days after a defeat to Bodo Glimt in a trip to the Arctic Circle. Next up, they’re off to meet Azerbaijan champions Sabah.

The hosts started in the first round of qualifying, continuing the incredible rise of a nine-year-old club after they won their first title last season.

Sabah beat Slavia Prague last week to claim their first-ever European win outside of qualifying, and they warmed up for this clash with a 4-0 victory in the league at the weekend.

Dortmund had a patchy away record in Europe last season, conceding 16 times in five matches, winning only once. They’ve kept only two clean sheets in their last 15 Champions League games, and they can concede once again in this trip.

However, Sabah’s heavy 4-0 defeat at Manchester United makes it hard to have much faith in the hosts securing a positive result. Back both teams to get on the scoresheet, while a 2-1 win for Dortmund is my correct score prediction.
