NEC Nijmegen vs PEC Zwolle Predictions

• NEC Nijmegen were thrashed 5-0 by Ajax last week
• PEC Zwolle are undefeated in their last nine competitive meetings with NEC (Won 6, Drawn 3).
• Only five clubs scored more away goals in the Eredivisie than PEC Zwolle last season.

PEC Zwolle are attractively priced for win

NEC Nijmegen knew it wasn’t going to be easy to survive in the Eredivisie this season and that was confirmed when they lost 5-0 to Ajax in their opening game last weekend.

Thoroughly outplayed in Amsterdam, Rogier Meijer’s side were 4-0 down after 20 minutes and 5-0 down at half-time.

Only a tactical change saved them from further embarrassment in the second half with Meijer’s attempt to switch from the 5-3-2 that got them up to a more Dutch style 4-3-3 binned for now.

A visit from PEC Zwolle isn’t exactly what NEC need right now as the Bluefingers have completely owned them in recent meetings between the sides, winning six during a nine-game unbeaten run.

PEC suffered a 4-0 humbling themselves at Ajax just before Christmas last year, but came back stronger for it as they scored 18 goals and won three of their 11 remaining away league games to comfortably stay up.

Pre-season defeats to Heerenveen and Heracles had suggested a tough season ahead for PEC, but they were unfortunate not to pick up an away point at Vitesse Arnhem in their Eredivisie opener.

Art Langeler’s men couldn’t finish off a succession of chances either side of half-time after conceding the opener and went down 1-0.

We expect them to bounce back against an overmatched NEC side that need reinforcements quickly and will happily take the odds against price for them to win at Gofferstadion.

NEC scored in all but four of their home games last season in the Eerste Divisie, so there is a good chance that they register themselves here in a 2-1 home defeat.
