Dutch can avoid shock on home turf

After claiming another famous victory over England – this time a 1-0 victory at Wembley on Friday night – Iceland will be brimming with confidence but they may struggle to turn this belief into victory against a strong Netherlands side.

The Dutch have won five of their last six in all competitions – the only blemish being a 2-1 defeat to Euro 2024 hosts Germany – while each of these five victories came accompanied with clean sheets.

Iceland were beaten in their play-off final against Ukraine back in March however this remains their only defeat across their last five matches, with each of these fixtures being played away from home, making their form even more impressive.

The visitors could frustrate the Dutch on the night however the Dutch, who finished second in their qualification group behind France,  have an abundance of talent that look to have clicked into gear at the right time and they should be able to get the job done in Rotterdam. Another clean sheet is expected for the hosts and a tight 1-0 result shows promise.
