Newcastle Jets vs Melbourne City Betting Tips

After their dismal bottom of the A-League finish last season Newcastle Jets looks to be on their way to recovery at the beginning of this campaign.

They won three of their first four A-League matches to see them challenging for the top spot in the table.

However, Newcastle Jets have hit a bit of a wall over the past few weeks, and they come into this match on the back of a five match winless streak in the A-League where they have lost twice and drawn three times.

This has seen them slip down to 7^th in the table. They have a six point advantage over 8^th place Adelaide United, and a win on Sunday could see them move as high as 4^th in the table.

But Melbourne City won’t be easy to beat. They have won three of their last five matches in the league and only lost once, and their last two games have both seen them secure huge 5-1 victories.

But Newcastle Jets did manage to get a win over them earlier in the season, when they overcame them 3-2 away from home during their period of good form. This made it two wins and a draw apiece in their last five meetings.

Melbourne City lie in 5^th place in the A-League table, with their 14 point tally so far meaning that a win could take them as high as 2^nd place. However, a loss could see them drop two positions.

Newcastle Jets have only failed to score on three occasions so far this season, and they are coming up against a Melbourne City side who have conceded in every match this season. But the visitors have netted in all but one of their games as well.

This makes a Both Teams to Score bet look attractive, and the odds of 8/13 that are on offer look fair to me. I’m also going to go for a 3-1 Melbourne City win at 12/1.
