Newcastle Jets vs Melbourne Victory Predictions

After finishing at the bottom of the Hyundai A-League last term Newcastle Jets seemed to have put their problems behind them. They won three of their opening four matches to put themselves relatively high up the table.

But it’s been all downhill since then, and they come into this match having not won in their last eight attempts.

Half of these games have ended all square, with the other four being defeats for the struggling side.

This has seen Newcastle Jets slip towards the territory that they occupied all last season, and they come into this game in 8th position in the A-League with 13 points from their opening 12 games.

But Melbourne Victory aren’t doing much better. They have only managed to pick up 17 points so far and find themselves in bad shape at the moment. This leaves them in 5th position in the A-League table.

They opened their defence of the Hyundai A-League with only one defeat in their opening seven league games, with five of them seeing the champions take all three points.

However, they are now on a five match winless streak in which they have lost four times, scoring just two goals on the way.

All of these four defeats have come away from home, and their run of four straight away matches provided no respite from defeat. Their overall away record is pretty shocking.

They have only won one of their seven away days so far this season, picking up a total of four points from a possible 21.

Newcastle Jets haven’t been great on home turf though, with only one win from seven home games. Three draws and three defeats make up the remaining six results.

However, the odds look too good to turn down. Melbourne Victory are well out of form at the moment and look especially bad on the road. Newcastle Jets have only lost twice in their last six home games, so odds of 13/10 for a Newcastle Jets Win or Draw Double Chance look incredibly good value. I’m also going for a 1-1 correct score prediction at 13/2.
