Newcastle vs Stoke Predictions
The Tyne-Wear derby is always a huge day for the fans involved, no matter where the teams lie in the league. But it’s made even more important when they are battling it out to escape the Premier League relegation zone.
Newcastle couldn’t escape, and despite dominating the game they made the short journey home after suffering a 3-0 defeat. This can be put down to a rather controversial decision by the referee to hand Sunderland a soft penalty and send Newcastle captain Fabricio Coloccini off.
This brought the Toon Army back down to earth after their incredible 6-2 win against Norwich the previous weekend, a result which was their first Premier League win of the season.
This overall poor form leaves them in 19th position in the Premier League with just six points from their opening ten games.
Stoke also suffered a poor start to the season, with their three losses and three draws leaving them winless after six league matches.
But the return of Bojan sparked a resurgence, and since their 1-0 win over Fulham in the Capital One Cup they have won five of their last six games in all competitions.
Their disappointing 2-0 loss to Watford last weekend was the only time they have failed to win since the middle of September, but they made up for this by knocking Chelsea out of the League Cup on Tuesday.
Jon Walters put the hosts in front just after half time, and it took until the 91st minute for Loic Remy to strike back for the struggling Chelsea. Stoke then had a man sent off, but they managed to hold Chelsea off and defeat them on penalties.
Stoke have the form on their side, and it doesn’t seem to matter whether Newcastle are at home or not at the moment, they lose anywhere. But their win against Norwich showed that they do have the quality, so I’m going for a Stoke Draw No Bet at 11/10 and a 1-0 correct scoreline at 9/1.
