Tip Reasoning

  • Both teams have scored in four of the last six Newport games.
  • Bradford City have conceded seven goals in their last four League Two away games.
  • Newport have won their last two home games in League Two and each of the last three meetings between the clubs.

Bantams can notch against inconsistent Exiles

Newport County parted ways with popular manager Mike Flynn last week in a surprise move the day before they entertained second-bottom Scunthorpe. Flynn’s former assistant Wayne Hatswell made four changes to the side that lost to Barrow and the Exiles responded with a 3-0 win that demonstrated the inconsistent nature of a group of players that had frustrated their ex-boss.

Backing Newport to follow that up with another home victory – even against poor travellers like Bradford – is fraught with danger because the Exiles have not won back-to-back contests since the first week of the season.

They have a 50% home win rate in the league and have kept only one clean sheet at Rodney Parade – against struggling Scunthorpe – and even then needed goalkeeper Joe Day to be at his best.

Adams getting injured players back

Bradford arrive in south Wales with on a shocking away run of three straight defeats, but their treatment room is now starting to clear up after a spate of injuries. Charles Vernam was back for last week’s home win over Rochdale, a game which also saw top scorer Andy Cook end his goal drought.

Derek Adams’ side continue to play with an attack-minded 4-2-3-1 formation on their travels and, although conceding seven in their last four away trips, have deserved more than their three-goal tally to date.

So we are supporting a both teams to score bet on Saturday, albeit with the expectation that Newport are the more likely winners of the game – especially if they mirror last week’s display. The Exiles have won their last two home games against Bradford 2-1 and that looks a good place to start for a final score prediction this weekend too.
