Both Teams To Score

Reason for tip

Both teams have scored in six of Cologne’s eight matches this season, as they have in three of Nice’s eight outings, who have also seen both teams net in four of their last six home fixtures in European football

Draw 1-1

Reason for tip

Nice have managed just two victories so far this season and come into the game on the back of a 1-1 defeat to Monaco, whilst just four of their last 11 home European games have ended in victory. Cologne meanwhile are unbeaten in four but are not without problems on the road, losing all three of their Europa League away group games in 2017/18, the last time they reached this stage of a UEFA competition

Nice vs Cologne Predictions

  • Nice have seen both teams net in three of their eight matches
  • Six of Cologne’s eight games this season have seen both teams score
  • Both teams have netted in four of Nice’s last six home European fixtures

Can Nice find some consistency?

Nice are yet to pick up back-to-back wins this season, with a 1-0 defeat to Monaco at the weekend meaning they have now registered just two wins in eight matches.

Three of those outings have seen both teams score, including a 2-1 victory at Lille at the end of August, while both teams have also netted in four of their last six home games in European football.

Lucien Favre will certainly have a concern about his side’s record in UEFA competitions though, given they only won one of their six group games in the Europa League last season and are on a run of just four wins in 11 at home.

Can Cologne start strongly?

Cologne have had a stronger start to the season and come into this game unbeaten in four, including a 3-0 victory against Fehervar to avoid an embarrassing Europa Conference League qualifying defeat.

Steffen Baumgart’s side have a shocking record on the road in European football though, losing all three of their away Europa League group games in 2017/18.

Both teams have scored in six of their eight matches this season though, while they have only failed to net once, so they certainly know where the back of the net it.

I predict that both teams will score in this game, but it is quite hard to separate them, with a 1-1 draw my correct score prediction.
