We use stars to rate our confidence in our tips, with 3 being most confident to 1 being the least.
Nantes 1-0 @ 11/2

Reason For Nimes vs Nantes Predictions

  • Nîmes have conceded a whopping ten goals in their last two games.
  • Nantes have won two of their last three games with the one defeat coming away to PSG.
  • Nîmes have picked up the least home points of all Ligue 1 teams this season.

 Nîmes in free-fall

Last week for Nîmes was one of their worst. They played two games against Bordeaux and Lyon and conceded ten goals in the process, losing 6-0 and 4-0 respectively. They currently sit bottom of the table with just two wins to their name, both of which came in the first month of the campaign. The waters are starting to get dicey for manager Bernard Blaquart and he could face the sack if results don’t improve.

The Crocodiles have now conceded the second most goals in Ligue 1 (28) while also scoring the second least, hitting the back of the net on twelve occasions. Just two of those goals have come in their last six matches and with four losses in this time, it’s hard to see how they get out of this as the challenge of Nantes will be another tough one. Many teams have relied on their home form to get points on the board this season but Nîmes haven’t been able to copy that as they have picked up the least points of all Ligue 1 teams at their home stadium where they are winless in their last four.

Nantes back on the up

Nantes were in a sticky patch over October and November with just one league win across the two months but they have managed to get into the festive spirit with two wins in their last three games. One of them came last week as they edged Dijon 1-0 in a tight battle at home. This followed up a 2-1 beating of Toulouse and their gutsy 2-0 defeat away to PSG so Christian Gourcuff will be happy with the progress his team have made since their poor form.

Nantes could be held back by their away form going into this one though as they are winless in their last four games on the road. They’ve conceded six and scored just one goal in this time and with them struggling to impress against extremely beatable sides like Brest (1-1) and Metz (0-1) in this time it could be a tricky trip for les Canaris.

More disappointment brewing for the hosts

Despite Nantes not being overly impressive on the road recently, Nîmes have taken the word ‘awful’ to a whole new level with ten goals conceded in their last two games. The hosts have found hitting the back of the net extremely difficult and with Nantes conceding zero non-penalty goals in two of their last three games it should be another disappointment for the Crocodiles.

Nantes have picked up some form over the last few games but haven’t been at the scoring level of Bordeaux or Lyon who recently put Nîmes to the sword. Therefore we’re backing the visitors to get the win but not by the same margin that Nîmes have been suffering recently. We think this will end 1-0 to the visitors.
