Tip Reasoning

  • Georgia are undefeated in four away from home, including wins at Kosovo, Bosnia-Herzegovina and Bulgaria.
  • North Macedonia have won one of their last five home games and failed to score in the other four.
  • Georgia were the better side when they last met in a playoff that North Macedonia won 1-0 to reach Euro 2020.

Crusaders can gain revenge for Euro 2020 playoff poke

Georgia can continue their remarkable resurgence at international level with a good result in Skopje that could even be a win to take them further clear at the top of Nations League C Group 4. The visitors will not fear the hosts and there could even be the whiff of revenge in the air after their elimination at the hands of North Macedonia in a Euro 2020 playoff two years ago.

Georgia created the better chances in that game but fell foul of a a toe-poked second-half winner from Goran Pandev. The dismay of having failed at the last hurdle has not deterred Willy Sagnol’s young squad that will include only one outfield player over the age of 30.

Crusaders have talent coming through in numbers and have shown they don’t lack defensive solidity or the ability to score freely in a series of good away displays since their last road defeat to Bulgaria last year. They conquered Kosovo at around 3/1 shots in October and won a friendly in Bosnia at pre-match odds of around 5/1 earlier this year.

Sagnol’s defence looks solid on paper

So to see them put up at around 5/2 for victory here is a tempter, particularly as Sagnol’s side have just avenged their Bulgaria loss with a 5-2 victory in Sofia. However, the draw no bet price of 11/8 is plenty good enough for us as we note that North Macedonia can be stubborn in defence at home.

They have kept clean sheets in two of their last five home games, although they have also failed to score in four and recorded only one victory on North Macedonian soil during that time. A 1-0 Georgian victory should have a decent chance of landing if the visitors can get back to the solidity they demonstrated in keeping five clean sheets in a row prior to the last Bulgaria trip.
