Northampton vs Peterborough Predictions

  • Eight of Peterborough’s last ten matches have featured at least three goals
  • Posh have lost their last four away league games
  • Northampton have kept three consecutive home clean sheets

Cobblers can shine despite manager’s departure

Northampton boss Jon Brady called time on his three-and-a-half year spell at the Sixfields helm on Thursday, but things might not be that desperate for the Cobblers despite the fact they occupy one of League One’s four relegation places.

A 2-0 defeat at Stevenage extended their winless run to six games, but while Monday’s opponents Peterborough have been full of goals at home, they are hardly pulling up trees either.

Posh have to pick themselves up from a 1-0 defeat at home to struggling Burton in their last outing and it has to be a concern that they have lost their last four league away games, even if three of those defeats can against promotion challengers Birmingham, Wycombe and Bolton.

Mid-table is not that far away

Despite their disappointing run, the Cobblers have been difficult to break down in their recent Sixfields outings, even if they did suffer the indignity of falling to their non-league neighbours Kettering on their own patch in the FA Cup.

Peterborough are only three points better off and look to be in the safety of mid-table, so it would not be a surprise if Northampton, who will be led by Ian Sampson, boosted their situation against League One’s third-leakiest defence, with a 2-1 home victory of potential interest to those looking for a correct-score interest.
