Norway vs Netherlands Predictions
- Norway have lost only once in Norway since 2016 (P19, W12, D6, L1).
- The Netherlands have failed to win four of their last six competitive away games.
Tricky test for returning Dutch master
Louis van Gaal, back in charge of the Netherlands after five years out of the game, has been given a tricky test first up with a visit to Oslo to take on Norway.
The situation in World Cup qualifying Group G is such that, as both these have already lost to Turkey, defeat will be a major blow to one or the other’s chances of reaching Qatar 2022.
The obvious play, therefore, would be to back a draw that would probably keep the Dutch happier than their hosts, who also lost at ‘home’ to the Turks.
That match was played in Malaga, however, and Norway are a different animal when backed by their own fans and on familiar turf at the Ullevaal.
Norway have only lost once there since 2016, winning 12 and drawing six of the 19 matches at the ground since and look very appealing in the double chance market because if it.
The Netherlands may have better players and a stronger squad on paper, but they don’t have anyone as deadly as Erling Braut Haaland up front and he could be a big factor in this clash.
The Dutch may also need some time to adapt to Van Gaal’s tactics, so we see a few good reasons to have faith in the Vikings to avoid defeat.
We’re backing Norway to stun the Netherlands 2-1 on Wednesday in much the same way that Turkey trounced the Dutch in their last away qualifier.
