Goals expected at Carrow Road as Norwich face Watford

Over 2.5 goals is the bet in Monday’s Championship clash between Norwich and Watford at Carrow Road. The visitors have conceded on all 11 of their away days this season, and there should be goals in this one.

Norwich are 23rd in the league and Watford are eighth, 15 places above them. The hosts have won five, drawn six and lost 12 of their 23 games this season, while Watford have nine wins, eight draws and six defeats.

Norwich beat Charlton 1-0 on Friday and have recorded three victories in the last four Championship head-to-heads, but Watford are tough opponents who are aiming for a third straight success and are unbeaten in nine of their last ten matches.

Watford beat Leicester 2-1 in their last Championship game on Friday, keeping up their recent pattern of games with over 2.5 goals. Leicester did their scoring in the first half – 72% of the goals that Watford have conceded this season have come before the break – but Watford will have been happy with the three points, having been priced at 21/10 to win the game.

Both teams are in form going forward. Norwich have scored in ten consecutive Championship games and only four teams have more goals than Watford’s 33 this season. The visitors have found the net in 16 of their last 17 league games.

Both teams have been struggling defensively. Only three other teams have shipped more goals in the Championship this season than the 35 that Norwich have conceded, while Watford have failed to keep a clean sheet in 18 of their last 20 games.

There should be goals at both ends in this one, with 2-2 appealing as a correct-score pick. Four of the last five Championship clashes between this pair have had four goals or more.
