      Nottingham Forest vs Charlton Predictions

      • Charlton haven’t won away from home in the Championship since August. They’ve since lost nine from 12 on the road.
      • Charlton are the fifth-worst team in the Championship when it comes to shots taken away from home.
      • Charlton are the sixth-worst team in the Championship in terms of shots conceded away from home.

      Forest tough to beat

Promotion-chasing Nottingham Forest provided another example of why they’re a side to take very seriously at the weekend, beating Leeds 2-0 at this venue. Having got the better of a top-two team last time out, Forest ought to be confident ahead of a match against a Charlton side that have struggled massively on the road over the last few months.

Home has been where the heart is for Sabri Lamouchi’s men of late. They’ve won four of their last five at the City Ground and are unbeaten during that time. Not only have they scored regular goals, notching 10 in their last five, they’ve done a decent job of stopping their opposition, conceding more than once in only one of their last five games at home; two of which they’ve kept a clean sheet in.

Forest also have quite an encouraging home record against teams in the bottom half, winning five of their eight home games against such opposition. They’ve lost just one of the other three and four clean sheets from those eight games is another pleasing stat.

Wins few and far between for Addicks

Charlton’s return to the Championship hasn’t exactly been a happy one. Lee Bowyer’s men have struggled to make their mark. Fortunately, they remain above the drop zone by a reasonably healthy four points, thanks mainly to the poor form of others. Charlton have now won just one of their last seven and just two of their last 19.

The Addicks haven’t been great at home, but they’ve been good enough. It is on the road where their struggles have come. Charlton are without an away win since the end of August. They’ve since gone 12 games without tasting victory on the road, nine of which they’ve lost.

Overall, 18 goals in 15 away matches isn’t a terrible total, but it pales into insignificance when put up against their total of 26 conceded. Bowyer’s men have conceded two or more in eight of their last 10 travelling matches.

      Hosts tough to oppose

Given what Charlton have done this term, especially on the road, this match must be categorised as a huge opportunity for the hosts to take another step in the right direction. Punters can make this one pay by siding with ‘Nottingham Forest to Win & Over 1.5 Goals’.

Not only have the hosts won four of their last five at home, beating two teams much higher in the table than Charlton, but they’ve scored multiple goals in three of their last four.

The home record of the hosts against the lesser teams also points towards a routine win for Lamouchi’s men. The fact Charlton have shipped two or more in 11 of 15 on the road this term, nine of which they’ve lost, also lends itself to the selection. For our correct score tip, we fancy a 2-1 Nottingham Forest win.
