Nottingham Forest vs Huddersfield Predictions
- Huddersfield have won five of their last eight games (D3)
- The Terriers won at the City Ground in December
- Forest have lost all their home meetings with the top six
- Huddersfield have won six of their last eight on the road
Quarter-final spot up for grabs
These two Championship sides are still hoping to make it into the Premier League next term, but they could first land a spot in the last eight of the FA Cup. There’s a massive prize on the line for the pair, as the winners will host Liverpool in the last eight.
These two are among the second-tier’s in-form sides, with only four teams picking up more points across the last eight games than Nottingham Forest. Unfortunately for them, one of those is a Huddersfield side who are unbeaten in that time (W5 D3).
Rare City blow for Cooper
After a couple of seasons of overachieving at Swansea, Steve Cooper’s quick return to the Championship has turned Nottingham Forest’s form around. Their dismal losing start immediately changed under Cooper, with Forest boasting the third-best record in the Championship since he arrived.
Unfortunately, one again they’re behind Huddersfield in that regard too. The Terriers have the second-best record in that timeframe, hardly a surprise given that they moved into second-place on Friday night with a 3-0 win over Peterborough.
In-form Terriers to sink Forest
One area where Cooper hasn’t exactly excelled with Forest is their home record. Since he took charge they have claimed 25 points from 13 at home, with 10 sides boasting better records in that time. While they are on a six-game unbeaten run at home, that streak picked up immediately after a 1-0 loss to Huddersfield in December. So far, Forest have lost all five home clashes with the top six in the league this term.
The Terriers have won 11 of their last 16 games, while they head into this clash on a four-game winning streak. They’ve scored nine times during that run, winning their last two to nil. Huddersfield also boast six wins across their last eight away, so they offer fantastic value to triumph at the City Ground again.
The visitors are in high-scoring form and they have struck 10 goals across their last five away trips. However, 11 of their 17 league wins this term have come by a single goal, so back a 2-1 victory for the Terriers.
