Nottingham Forest vs Sheffield Wednesday Predictions

  • Under 2.5 goals have been scored in 14 of Forest’s 18 Championship games.
  • Likewise, there have been less than 2.5 goals in 14 of Wednesday’s 18 league starts this term.
  • Both sides are in rotten form, with Forest winless in seven (D1, L6) and the visitors winless in eight (D4, L4).

Neither Side Fancied in Early Six-Pointer

While we’re only 18 games into the campaign, Tuesday’s fixture between Nottingham Forest and Sheffield Wednesday already looks a crucial one in terms of the fight to avoid relegation this term.

It’s fair to say that both of these sides have been absolutely dreadful this season. Hosts Forest appear to have regressed further under new boss Chris Hughton and they go into this week’s clash with one draw and six defeats suffered in their last seven.

Meanwhile, Wednesday aren’t faring much better. The Owls are rock-bottom and four points behind their opponents after a run of four draws and four losses from their last eight Championship starts. Tony Pulis’ men would be narrowly ahead of Forest but for their six-point deduction, however that has little bearing on our predictions for this contest as it’s nigh on impossible to fancy either side.

The best bet would appear to be under 2.5 goals, as that’s been the outcome in 14 out of 18 fixtures for both teams this term. The nature of this early-season six-pointer should also lead to an extremely cagey and defensive affair.

With neither team preferred for the points, correct score punters may be best opting for the draw and 1-1 is probably the most likely result. While we’re not expecting many goals, both sides could strike once apiece as they’ve each kept just two clean sheets in their nine respective home and away games this season.
