Nurnberg vs Erzgebirge Aue Predictions
- Nurnberg have only won two of their ten home league games in 2021.
- Four of these have ended in 1-1 draws.
- Erzgebirge Aue only lost one of their final four away games last season.
Stalemate expected in Nurnberg
It was a relatively underwhelming season for Nurnberg fans last term as a dismal first half of the campaign ended any hopes of a potential promotion push but their late-season form did show plenty of promise.
They only lost one of their final ten games in the 2. Bundesliga season to finish 11th in the table, although with half of those ending in draws there is plenty of hope for Erzgebirge Aue in this opener.
The visitors finished level on points with Nurnberg last term but come to the new season armed with something of an unknown quantity in new manager Aliaksei Shpilevski.
The 33-year-old’s only previous senior coaching experience was a short stint in his native Belarus and a three-year spell at FC Kairat in Kazakhstan, but he does have plenty of experience in RB Leipzig’s youth system and he could prove a real breath of fresh air.
The Veilchen are touted as underdogs here but I can see them getting something from the opening game. They only lost one of their final four away games and while Nurnberg are tough to beat they have only won two of their ten home league games in 2021. Four of these matches ended 1-1, so an Erzgebirge Aue double chance and a 1-1 correct score prediction appeals.
